What Is the Difference Between Auto-update and Static Segments?

1. Static Segments

When creating a static segment, you manually select and save the contacts you wish to include. The segment does not change or update unless you add or remove contacts yourself. You can do this by selecting those contacts from your contact list. Check them, click on the gear icon and then chose to Save to Segment.

2. Auto-update Segments

With auto-update segments, you set one or several criteria – such as gender: female and location: U.S., for example. Whenever you import new contacts or new contacts subscribe to your mailing lists, all those who meet the segment criteria will be automatically added to the corresponding segment.
